Back to geocaching and what better way to return than a four stage multi. Even better because this is the first multi we've attempted. Unfortunately we could not finish it yet. However we did find the first two stages so halfway there. Our first time into deep woods was complete with burrs and thorns. Had to send hubby in alone to get the first to keep the kids from the unforgiving thorns around. The second told coordinates that matched the first. Hmmm confusing. Have to figure out what that means and go back to try and find the third and final. Still it was fun getting out in nature. Plus there was an awesome park nearby and the kids had a blast. On the way home we decided to diversify even more and get our first earth cache. Pretty view and got to learn some interesting facts about the area. All in all a good day of caching if you ask me.

Taking a break
Okay so yes this site just started up but we just gave birth to our beautiful little girl on September 6th and we are going to need a bit of time to get back into the swing of things. Just as soon as we resume our geocaching adventures (with the newest little cacher in the family) then we will be back updating this site. Have a great week everyone!

Lingo
Okay so I'm going to assume that you've visited the site geocaching.com and now you're wondering, "What do all those crazy letters on the logs mean?" Well it can be a bit confusing at first but below I'm posting a small list of the ones I run into most often.
TFTC or TFT$ = Thanks for the cache
TFTH = Thanks for the hide
SL = Signed Log
TNLN = Took nothing, Left nothing
BYOP = Bring your own pen (even if a cache doesn't say this, it's always a good idea to have one on hand just in case)
CITO = Cache in, Trash out (this is the policy to pick up any litter you find in the area of the cache you are searching for)
DNF = Did Not Find
FTF = First to find
Muggle = Anyone who does not know about geocaching (yes if you are wondering it's also a term from Harry Potter :P)
Swag = small items for trade found in a cache (normally things like McDonald's happy meal toys)
TOTT = Tools of the Trade
Okay so those were a few of the acronyms I've run into but for a complete list of what the terms and acronyms mean go to http://www.geocaching.com/about/glossary.aspx.
Happy Caching Everyone!

Geocaching is so much fun
Geocaching is my favorite thing. It is very fun. I like it because I get out of the car and look for it. Sometimes my brother finds it. Sometimes we find things we want but not every time. Every time we are done we have a snack. After the snacks, most of the time, we watch a movie.
What is Geocaching?
First off I'm sure you're thinking, "What on Earth is Geocaching?" Well I was thinking the same thing just about 2 months ago. Then I did some research and found out that Geocaching is kind of like a high tech treasure hunt using GPS equipment. It's actually really fun. It gets you outdoors and the kids have a great time. Plus you can't beat that it's a free service. Sure some of them are small and basic and only contain a log book to sign but some are larger and contain prizes for the kids. Here is a video produced by the company GroundSpeak (they are the people who own geocaching.com) to better show just what geocaching is.
So what are you waiting for? Go to Geocaching.com and get started treasure hunting today!
